Clearfield County
Clearfield, the county seat, is a borough in Clearfield County. Home of the world’s largest hamburger! Also at home are the Grice Community Museum, which holds one of the most unique Crosley Car collections in the east; the Clearfield County Fair; the largest antique mall in the region; and a riverfront Historic District with plenty of room to stroll and soak up the West Branch Susquehanna views.
Coalport, the name says it all! This historic town was built on the labor of coal mining European immigrants whose unique ethnicities have blended into a heritage and culture unparalleled. The Coalport Coal Museum is a great starting point for exploring the regions coal heritage, and downtown is a great place to experience the sights, smells, and flavors that make this a cool town today.
Curwensville, retro storefronts intermingled with Victorian heritage is the best description for this Cool Town. Visit the Bucktail Monument and learn about the regiment’s Civil War volunteerism, completing your education with a trip to Korb House, where you can also learn about local coal and lumber history. Curwensville Lake offers many opportunities for the whole family including camping, hiking, and boating. Don’t forget to make time for a winery tour.
DuBois is a little city that’s big on atmosphere. Explore eclectic shops, antique stores, and two nearby wineries on the Groundhog Wine Trail. Lovers of the arts will find happenings at the Reitz Theatre, Winkler Gallery, and Penn State DuBois appealing. With six golf courses within a few minutes of the city limits, DuBois is a regional golf hub. Relax at Treasure Lake or seek the hidden treasure in a geocache, all within minutes.
