History & Heritage

A place where history lives on.

The first people to live and work in the Pennsylvania Wilds were the Native Americans, and their stewardship for the land carries over to today. When you're faced with this much natural beauty, you tend to respect Mother Earth. But the Native Americans also saw the potential of this region—their trails and towns were the infrastructure on which later residents built empires.

Lumber barons, oilmen, and railroad pioneers constructed elaborate homes and quaint towns that still survive—and the loggers and laborers who did the work gave the place a sense of authenticity that can't be beat.

All over the Pennsylvania Wilds, you'll find museums and monuments dedicated to our industrial and agricultural heritage, our work ethic, and our role in America's expansion.
